As you watch your children’s imaginations run, imagine Peruvian children playing in the yard as their mother knits. Or savoring a good meal in a safe home. Or dreaming of a bright future. Imagine kids just being kids.

This is not a given in rural Andean communities. Traffickers prey on vulnerable families. Mothers fight poverty and struggle to provide. Women are vulnerable to violence and abuse.

The preventative programs of Women At Risk, International (WAR, Int'l) offer women who have nothing to sell but themselves a way to provide with dignity and safety. They allow women who may have been widowed or abandoned to stay home with their children. They empower women, giving them stronger voices.

The at-risk and rescued Thai artisans who crafted these colorful journals are at a turning point in their stories. Coming from backgrounds of poverty, exploitation, or abuse, these women are now in a safe place, surrounded by loving community while they learn valuable skills & provide for their families with dignity.
