Thai Safehouse #3

Thailand

Hidden within the red-light districts of Thailand are women from all over the world. On outreach, our partners have met women from over twenty countries, including Russia, India, Nigeria, Laos, and Uzbekistan. With a heart for those far from home, they have expanded their program, originally created for Thai women trapped in the sex trade. Safehouse staff now also seek out those who have been trafficked to Thailand from other countries, providing shelter and medical attention while working to safely repatriate them. The Lighthouse programs offer both Thai women and international women an alternative way to make an income. They also provide medical care, vocational and life skills, scholarships for education, childcare, counseling, and more. The safehouse continues to grow, and as they step into international trafficking situations and start up new safehouses, the ministry is spreading across borders into new countries. Your support empowers The Lighthouse to expand its circles of protection into new places, offering hope and healing to women and children from all over the world.

Pim

For the second time, Pim was forced to leave everything behind. At first, it was her father’s violent alcoholism that forced her family to flee. Now her husband had abandoned her, leaving her alone with their daughter. Desperate for an income, Pim moved to the city to search for work but found nothing. Desperate to feed her daughter and seeing no alternative, she began selling her body at night, hating every minute of it. But there was still one more move for Pim—this time to a safe place and a warm community that cared for her and her child. After meeting Pim on outreach, safehouse staff invited her to join their program and make a living in a different way. Now, for the first time, Pim loves what she does. Today she dreams of going back to school and studying accounting so that she and her daughter can start a new life. It is your purchase that helps move women like Pim to safe places, lifting them and their children to lives of dignity.
